The Oasis of Peace

Newe Shalom (Oasis of Peace) is a shared Arab-Jewish village that promotes coexistence, peace, and equality within and beyond its borders. For over than fifty years, this unique community has been a lighthouse for implementing the principles and concepts of coexistence, equality, and multicultural partnership. Many residents of the village work in organizations and programs that advocate for peace and reconciliation.

The village's has established institutions that uphold its values and engage in social and educational activities aimed at transforming social values. Among these institutions is the bilingual and bicultural primary school, the School for Peace (SFP), which promotes dialogue between activists and individuals from diverse professional backgrounds. The village also has a Pluralistic Spiritual Centre.

Majdal Shams

Majdal Shams

is a Druze village located on the southern slope of Mount Hermon, at an elevation of approximately 1230 meters above sea level. The name "Majdal Shams" originates from the Aramaic language and translates to "Tower of the Sun" in Arabic. The village is embraced by the first rays of sunlight at sunrise, giving it the appearance of a sun tower. Majdal Shams is known for its beautiful climate throughout most days of the year, including the summer, especially during the morning and evening hours. In winter, it transforms into a white sea due to snowfall, becoming a haven for skiing enthusiasts. The village has a European atmosphere that can be felt in every corner, earning it the title of the Druze "hipster" capital.

Nazareth: The Fringe Ensemble Theatre

Nazareth

The ancient city of Nazareth has reopened its doors, blending its timeless spirit with a modern touch. With its renovated old buildings featuring high ceilings, colorful windows, unique decorations, and antique floors, the city now offers exceptional restaurants and new accommodation options. Nazareth is home to numerous historical and touristic sites, showcasing creativity and attention to detail in every corner. This creates an amazing and unique journey that combines spirituality and dance, the ancient and the contemporary, design and art, history and heritage, in addition to traditional and modern cuisines.

For these reasons, we have chosen the city of Nazareth to host our residency program. We aim to make an impact on dialogue and contemporary art in this city, alongside the significant influence the city will have on the program and its outcomes.

The Nazareth Fringe Ensemble Theatre

The Nazareth Ensemble Fringe Theatre was established in 2019 as the first theater for the arts in the Arab community. It was founded by the Nazareth Fringe Theatre Association in collaboration with the Studio Theatre, established by Yoram Levinstein. Located in the heart of Nazareth, the academy is an integral part of the community. It offers a professional preparatory year that is academically recognized and provides an opportunity for many students from neighboring areas to explore the field of acting. The association has set a goal to create a new generation of actors and actresses who will lead theater, cinema, and television in the Arab community.

Accommodation: The artists will be provided with housing, either a residential apartment or a room in one of the affiliated hotels.

Venues: The rehearsals will take place in the theater hall, where the anticipated performance will also be held. There are two halls, one with a capacity of 80 people and the other with a capacity of 250 people. Adjacent to the hall, there is a dressing room, a coffee corner, restrooms, and theater's offices.
